Baguio is best known as the summer capital of the Philippines, and it continues to be one of the most favorite destinations of every Filipino traveler because of its cool, chilly weather all year round.

On my fourth trip to Baguio, I stumbled upon a relatively new and inexpensive hotel that still reflects the traditional Cordilleran culture and design that Baguio is known for.

Welcome to G1 Lodge, a family-owned hotel with 36 newly built rooms, that is located right at the heart of Baguio City and just a stone’s throw away from SM City Baguio and the bustling Session Road.

The external facade of G1 Lodge stands out from the rest of the establishments in its neighborhood because of its striking wooden angular look.

The architectural design concept of the lobby also caught my attention right upon entering the hotel premises.

The architect was obviously going for the sophisticated yet modern with a touch of old traditional Cordilleran wood accents.

Because of its prime location, it was very convenient to go around the city as taxis were always available right outside the hotel.

All rooms are unique, and we stayed at a trendy one that gave off a modern and hip vibe. The bed and linens were very comfortable and made me want to stay in for the rest of the day for a much needed R&R.

For the price, our room even comes with a balcony that offers an awesome view of the city of pines.

Not to mention, the toilets are modern too and have all the bells and whistles that you’ll ever need.

Also, I like the fact that the stairways to the key-card enabled floors somehow resemble that of a log cabin but with all your modern twists.

What’s more, the hotel has a cafe and a really fast wifi connection perfect for millenials who are always on social media and business travelers who are always glued to their laptops.

They also offer a spacious conference room…

…and meeting rooms for all your business needs.

My breakfast view. I personally loved the Kalinga coffee that they serve throughout the day.

Breakfast buffet is inclusive for all checked-in guests.

Our simple hearty breakfast.

As for lunch, here is our pick for the best Filipino food that you should definitely order:

The Filipino Sizzling Beef Salpicao (PHP 306) & Sizzling Pork Sisig (PHP 225).

Pata Tim (PHP 480).

And our favorite Salted Egg Chicken!

For dessert, you can try their best seller Leche Flan with Ube Halaya (PHP 199). Yum!

The newly opened bar & grill at the rooftop would be my favorite spot in this hotel. It offers a perfect 360 view of the city and features a breathtaking sunset view.

Perfect for those late-night bar drinking or chill sessions.

G1 Lodge, despite being new, trendy and modern, did not shy away from the traditional Cordilleran style and profile.

Overall, I loved my 2-day stay at G1 Lodge. It definitely made it to my top picks for best hotels overall to stay in Baguio.

Perfect for a quick escape away from Manila’s scorching summer heat.
